Frequently Asked Questions
-
1.) Schedule a Free Consultation:
Start by filling out the contact form on my website with the requested information. I’ll reach out to schedule a phone consultation with you. This is a brief call that allows us to explore what’s bringing you in to determine if we’re a good fit.
2.) Choose Your Ongoing Session Time:
If we decide to move forward, I’ll provide available time slots that meet on a weekly or bi-weekly cadence. You’ll choose a slot that you are able to commit to for the duration of therapy. Counseling works best when it’s consistent, so your selected time will be reserved exclusively for you.
3.) Complete Intake Forms:
You’ll then receive secure online paperwork via email. This onboarding packet includes my practice policies and several questionnaires. This helps us begin our work with clarity and intention.
*Teletherapy clients will receive a secure link via text messaging or email to join their initial session the morning of the appointment
4.) Begin Therapy:
We’ll get to know one another better and begin exploring your background in more detail, to better define your goals and expectations for therapy in this season of your life. I’ll integrate approaches like: EMDR, IFS (parts-work), and other various modalities, as appropriate.

Yes. I offer virtual teletherapy sessions all across the State of Indiana through Telehealth by Simple Practice – (an EHR platform that is HIPAA compliant).

Our practice doesn’t participate with any insurance panels.
I value high quality care and desire to be extremely intentional and attentive with each person I’m building a therapeutic relationship with.
Private-pay based therapy allows for a more limited caseload. This means I can spend more time focusing on the individual versus paperwork and administrative tasks that sometimes get in the way of a client’s care.
There are many other advantages to private-pay based care, including but not limited to:
increased confidentiality
ability to offer extended time for sessions (up to 90 minutes)
additional time to integrate material discussed with clients, so that I can offer up richer and deeper insights; which may accelerate progress towards your goals

Do any of these thoughts sound relatable to you?
o “I think I had a pretty good childhood. My parents did the best they could. It wasn’t like I was physically abused or anything. I didn’t really want for much. I don’t really think I have any trauma.”
o “I think I experienced trauma, but I don’t feel like it was “bad enough” to be considered trauma.”
o “Hard stuff happens to everyone. I should just get over it.”
o “I know someone who had it way worse than me. I should be better by now.”
Do you also know these things?
Trauma is SUBJECTIVE:
Meaning, that it’s not measured by the objective severity of the event itself but the meaning you formulated about the experience. The age that these events happened across the course of your development can also influence its impact as well.
It’s also important to know that two separate individuals can experience the exact same situation. One may feel relatively unaffected by it while another may regularly be experiencing panic attacks, insomnia, excessive rumination etc. Neither person is “better” or “worse” for responding in the way that they did. Our minds and bodies are incredibly complex and traumatic experiences are often very personal to the individual.
Trauma is a UNIQUE EXPERIENCE THAT IS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE:
There will always be someone else in this world we can point to who may have experienced something that seems objectively more “horrific” than our own experience(s). Sometimes we may begin to believe that this fact disqualifies us from seeking treatment and support.
Think about this though … if you knew someone in the world who broke both of their arms and you fractured only one of your hands, would you refuse medical intervention because you think you’re undeserving of treatment? Of course not!
Suffering in any degree is enough of a reason to warrant seeking support.
Your feelings are valid and not negated by someone else’s experiences. The fact that you are suffering at all is “enough”.
You never need to justify your pain to me. I’m here for it. I validate it. I believe it. I want to help you move through it.
Trauma comes IN ALL SHAPES & SIZES:
Trauma is not just the “big-ticket” items one may typically think of — like abuse, war-zones, assaults, or life-threatening situations.
Did you know that you can experience trauma through experiences like: bullying, social rejection by your peers, emotional neglect, betrayal, perceived abandonment, loss of a close relationship, and much, much more?
If you are hesitant to reach out because you’re second-guessing whether you meet the criteria – throw the list out the window – because your experiences are valid here.
